Book Fan Friday

I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving! Ours was nice. Baby Girl ate a little bit of everything we had and pretty much liked it all! Now today is all about putting up the Christmas tree and decorating the house for Christmas. We got a couple of new decorations last year and I'm excited about putting them up! We usually get more stuff to build on our decorations the day after the holiday (whether it be Halloween, Christmas, whatever) so we can get it cheaper. Unless I see something I just LOVE and don't want to risk it selling out before the sales. I try to be good about that, though. :) This year we only bought Baby Girl a new stocking (since hers from last year was pink, small, and said "Baby's 1st Christmas") and a light up polar bear to go on our front lawn. SUPER cute. We also got Baby Girl a new ornament, which is something we'll be doing every year. My parents did it for me (it was always wrapped and under the tree when I got home from school and the tag always said To: Me From: the Christmas tree... it was always the first ornament to go up that year) so I would have a nice start to my own Christmas tree whenever I moved out. So we're doing the same with our daughter.

Speaking of Christmas, I will be updating the look of this blog today. Please check back soon if it is not up when you read this! Awhile back I won a giveaway for a custom header from Coffee: Freshly Roasted Graphic Design. I LOVE her work and I think the header she made me is so perfect! As for the background, my friend over at Momma's Playground put it together for me. Isn't it so cute? There is another background I found over at The Cutest Blog on the Block that I like, too, so I might switch things up halfway through the season. Who knows? :)

Three A's and a C

Anyway, on to this week's Book Fan Friday! I've decided that starting this Friday and for every Friday through Christmas I am going to read Baby Girl a new Christmas book. Okay, so if you've joined me for Book Fan Friday before, you know of my love for the If You Give series by Laura Numeroff. Not to mention the fabulousness that is the Kohl's Cares for Kids program. Well, one of the books available through that program was If You Take A Mouse to the Movies.

Among other things, the mouse strings popcorn and wants to put it on a Christmas tree and make ornaments and whatnot, so it seemed perfect for today.

As always, if you have found a great book, children's or otherwise, I would love to see what it is and what you thought about it! I will leave the link-up open all week so feel free to join in at any time.

  1. That's good that Ashlyn liked everything. Our dinner was at 3 and I didn't want Dawson to be starving so I fed him a light lunch at noon since that is normally when he eats lunch. Well, I should have just given him a snack because he wanted nothing to do with our Thanksgiving dinner and then ended up eating mac and cheese a few hours later.

Your blog looks really cute! I love Christmas! I put up my Christmas background, too. I had to hurry and decorate my blog since I won't be decorating the house much this year. We left all of our decorations in storage in San Diego. I need to at least buy a small tree and a couple other small decorations for Dawson. If it was just me I don't think I would decorate at all...it's not the same without Dave.

I like your book choice! I'm sure we will be reading it soon, too. :-)

  6. It's so wonderful that you read to your chica! I'm proud that my 2 have grown up to be the strong, knowledgable and confident young women that they are today, and I think reading is the activity that launched them! SITS sent me by, and I'm glad they did. Happy SITS Saturday Sharefest!

  7. Stopping by from SITS!

I love the idea of your meme!

My mom has given me a Christmas book every year since I was born. I started that tradition with my daughter last year. We read a different Christmas book every night before bed starting Thanksgiving night.

    Some of my favorites are:
    -Auntie Claus
    -Olive, The Other Reindeer
    -Redheaded Robbie
    -You Are My Miracle

    Enjoy!

  8. I've been wanting to get one of the If You Give books for a long time. I don't have any children, but I'm into any kind of reading whether it's for kids, teens, or adults. I just have a super fetish for books! And I'm thrilled to see you're a book lover, too. You might enjoy my blog, then. :) I spotlight authors and books for people to check out and even had a giveaway this month! Your layout looks adorable, by the way. And the header with Rudolph is just too cute. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

  9. Reading is such special time, I made sure my DD and I did it from almost newborn. She is such a strong reader now. When you think about it, you have to read in everything you do, so any head start is a good thing!
