Sensory Tub

I was goofing off online the other day and really got inspired to do some new activities with Baby Girl. One thing I really wanted to try out was a sensory tub. I've seen these on numerous sites. I've always seen it done for older kids, though, but then I ran across From Babble to Scrabble, We're Going to Tot School and she did a sensory tub for her son when he was about Baby Girl's age. So I got all excited and made one for her. Did I have exactly what I wanted to use? No. But I didn't let that stop me! :)

I just grabbed the largest bowl we had, some random toys, the rest of our rice (sorry hubby, but at least we plan on going grocery shopping tomorrow!), and a measuring cup.

I put out a blanket and set it all out in front of Baby Girl. I didn't know what to expect or if it would even hold her interest. Come to find out, she LOVED it! She was having so much fun. If you have any ideas that would be good for an almost 15-month-old, or know of any good sites, I would love to hear about them! (You don't even have to have an idea for this to leave a comment and say hi, I won't mind. :) ) I've been going through the websites at 1+1+1=1 and keeping track of other good ideas, too.

  2. My Jacob loved doing that too! Another fun one is shaving cream on a plastic sheet on the floor, or you can cover a cookie sheet with a picture, (laminated) and put the shaving cream on it, they wipe it away to find the picture.

Another activity, very similar to what you've done, is put dried beans, peas and rice in a bucket, and hide small items in there for Baby Girl to find. Much fun!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog!

  3. How fun! I'm going to try this with Dawson but I have a feeling he will just want to eat the rice. Or throw the bowl. Or he won't even sit still. *sigh* He is such a boy! *lol*

Does Ashlyn like to sit and play or is she pretty much always on the go? I wish Dawson would sit and play more...maybe this will help some!

  4. I was going to suggest the beans but i see a previous poster beat me to the punch.

With my 19 month having 4 year old triplet siblings, it is hard to keep her at her age!! She just wants to hang out with the older kids!!
